Leadership, Development and Change
Assessment Guidelines
Part 1
Conduct a self -assessment of your leadership knowledge, skills, and attitudes. To do this you must complete three or four self-assessment tools and then analyse and triangulate the results to complete a SWOT analysis and to action plan for your development as a leader in health and social care.
You should then critically reflect on the strengths and limitations of your own leadership style and skills in relation to theories and models of leadership. You should critically appraise theories, models, and literature to discuss the importance of leadership and the management of change in the context of health and social care.
Part 2
You need to identify a real change scenario where an organisational change or a change in health or social care practice was either implemented or proposed. You should evaluate the change scenario through an application of change management theory, processes and the leadership skills required to achieve successful change implementation.
You should critically reflect on the involvement of service users (patients, clients, and carers) in decisions about their care and in health and social care practices. You should apply literature to propose ways to further involve and empower service users.
Students should ensure that they maintain confidentiality within the assignment and not disclose any information which is not publicly available,( i.e., patient or staff personal information.)
